    Pros +

    • Beautiful location and venue. Exceptional food, particularly buffet breakfast. We stayed Christmas Eve and the staff went above and beyond to help us prepare a surprise from Santa!
    • Room Size, Breakfast, Living Room for relaxing after day out.
    • The service, the charm, the hotel shuttle convenience.

    Cons -

    • Onsen is a bit simple, just one pool ... service at the living room sometimes slow, not possible to order from French restaurant and Japanese restaurant when eating at living room.
    • We drove to the hotel and parked on the second level so getting back to the reception area proved a little difficult
    • We stayed there for a night to celebrate by sons birthday . The room was good , view was nice but then dinner was ok . I had more expectation because the last time we had dinner in oak door tokyo it was really good . The birthday plate was really very below expectation. It was just one piece banana and two blue berries and a candle . It was for free so cost but it would have been better if the told us that it would be just that we would have paid extra money for cake or the plate

    Room, breakfast

Location far from the train station , although the hotel offers free shuttle, after the shuttle time it will be problematic to reach the hotel, no taxi available at night, so if you go back to the hotel on time you will have a great stay

Evening meal in the western restaurant was lovely and the staff were very good

The hotel is dated and tired and not what you would expect from a Hyatt hotel . The shower had mould and the furniture was damaged and chipped in the bedroom. The lounge was very dated including the furnishings and the dust on the wood wall decor was so visible to the extent other guests commented . The Mountain View included a very large red roof top of a building immediately in front of the window with another building/shed covered in blue plastic . This can all be excused if the price reflected what you pay for but when you expect a 5star hotel at £500 per night then expectations are more than what this hotel is offering .

Facilities, big and comfortable room accommodating our family.

Brilliant staff and a lovely calm and relaxing place to be

Hard to get to and nothing in walking distance

The check in process is a little unfriendly compared to experience we had in hilton, not very kid friendly. I found it a little more challenging to understand what leisure activities there were in area, especially on day cable car was cancelled, felt I was being annoying by asking staff questions. Would have liked to know about train station 5 mins away that is not on map. Experience in hotel was transactional. It was fine but not warming.

Its charming and has good onsen facilities . The food is good and breakfast is very good .

Its a bit dated especially the lobby area arround the chimney . Needs a bit of revamping . The location is a bit remote .

Good onsen and large, spacious rooms

    The onsite restaurants were expensive.

    Disappointing

Food so so over price , no service at all

    9HaiPosted on: 3-21-2025

The shuttle service on call was very convenient with kids to pick up from the train station. The Onsen was great and breakfast was really good too.

The shuttle service could have started but earlier (e.g. 8.30am or 9am)

    9LeePosted on: 3-18-2025

It’s a luxurious getaway, with a nice onsen amidst Japan’s mountains. Service quality was really good, and has really improved on my previous visit there a few years ago during the midst of the covid pandemic.

In hindsight it was a bit discomforting to see so many Tesla charging stations in the parking area. Given the nature of this brand, they should remove these signs or make them more discreet.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hyatt in Hakone. We really appreciated the shuttle service and never had to wait long. The staff were all extremely friendly and kind. The Onsen was lovely, clean and easy to navigate- the hotel robes and slippers were a nice touch. Our room was very spacious and had a nice view of the mountains. The beds extremely comfortable- we had great sleep, they take their blackout blinds seriously! The breakfast buffet was very impressive and we enjoyed a meal in the dining room and casual living room. The Udon hot pot was delicious!

On the pricier side, but to be expected for the area.

The location was beautiful. The property is well kept and extremely clean. The rooms are large and comfortable. The service is better than the Four Seasons chain.

    4WincyPosted on: 1-24-2025

The carpark is closed to property

The breadfast variety is so less, taste is fair; there is just 1 indoor onsen and even no body lotion in the changing place ;the room is clean but looks old; the staff is impatient as our card couldn’t place the deposit; and she is not willing to check again

    10TrinhPosted on: 1-7-2025

The room was extremely spacious and service and staff was amazing. The onsen was excellent.
